Yael Tobi's practice focuses on business litigation, with a wide range of substantive experience, including employment law, commercial litigation, intellectual property litigation, entertainment, corporate internal investigations, white collar criminal defense, as well as the full spectrum of fraud cases.

Ms. Tobi began her career practicing as a litigator specializing in white collar criminal defense, and commercial and intellectual property litigation.  Ms. Tobi has experience in both state and federal courts, as well as arbitration proceedings. She represented Fortune 500 corporations, public and private companies, law firms, and high-profile individuals.

Ms. Tobi’s entertainment practice includes representing entrepreneurial production and visual effects companies in all aspects of entertainment and related industries, including dealings with studios, networks, and production companies.

Some of Ms. Tobi's notable cases include:

  • Part of a legal team representing a client in connection with the Hollywood private eye wiretapping scandal;
  • Obtained dismissal with prejudice in federal court in a multimillion dollar contract dispute involving the sale of medical devices;
  • Counsel for foreign corporation accused of violating United States tax laws and resolving all legal issues favorably for the client;
  • Obtained a favorable order denying a multi-million dollar claim for reimbursement by sureties on a fraud judgment;
  • Obtained a dismissal of a multi-million dollar fraud and contract claim on a Motion for Summary Judgment;
  • Negotiated a visual effects agreement with Warner Bros in connection with Warner Bros feature film “Green Lantern”;
  • Negotiated and drafted agreements in connection with visual effects and stereoscopic conversion deals for the film “To the Arctic”;
  • Negotiated and drafted various partnership and profit sharing agreements for visual effects companies;

Ms. Tobi has also been extensively involved in pro bono activities, which include the representation of non-profit and charitable organizations. Ms. Tobi has been recognized by the United States District Court for her involvement as a member of the Central District Pro Bono Panel.
