Jackson DeMarco Tidus Peckenpaugh Adds Land Use Attorneys

IRVINE – CA, Jackson DeMarco Tidus Peckenpaugh is pleased to welcome Gregory P. Powers and Jonathan E. Shardlow, to the Land Use Department. Both team members are located in the Firm’s Irvine, CA office.

Greg joins JDTP from Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch LLP, San Diego, CA, where he represented private and public clients in the areas of land use, planning and zoning, and regulatory matters. Before that, Greg was Regional Land Use Counsel to one of the largest residential and mixed-use developers in the Western United States. Greg’s practice focuses on assisting landowners and private developers in all aspects of the land entitlement and permitting process. He also advises public agencies and private clients on governmental law matters, including the Ralph M. Brown Act, the Political Reform Act, and California elections laws. Greg’s experience includes representing several California cities in planning, constructing, and implementing city-wide fiber optic backbone networks, including defending against challenges from investor-owned telecommunications companies. He also successfully negotiated the sale and transfer of an entire electric utility system to Southern California Edison as part of the privatization of a local Air Reserve Base, and has assisted several municipalities with the construction and operation of electric, water, and wastewater utilities. Greg received his B.A. from Pepperdine University (1993) and his J.D. from Gonzaga University School of Law (1999).

Jonathan comes to JDTP from the environmental practice group at Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel LLP, Honolulu, HI. While at the firm, he counseled Hawaii Superferry, an interisland ferry service provider, about issues involving the commencement and operation of transportation services throughout Hawaiian waters. In this capacity, Jonathan defended Hawaii Superferry against legal challenges under Hawaii’s environmental review law. Prior to practicing in Hawaii, Jonathan was at Downey Brand LLP, Sacramento, CA, where his practice focused on environmental litigation.

He has his LL.M. in Environmental and Natural Resources Law from Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon (2007) and received his J.D. (2004) from Hastings College of the Law. He performed his undergraduate work at U.C. Santa Barbara (2001).
