Jackson DeMarco Tidus Peckenpaugh Adds New Real Estate Senior Attorney, Steven J. Dettmann
IRVINE, CA - Jackson DeMarco Tidus Peckenpaugh is pleased to announce that Steve Dettmann has joined the Firm. Steve joins the Firm as its newest Senior Attorney in the Real Estate Practice Group. He will be based in the Firm's Irvine, CA office.
Steve is a real estate transactional lawyer with a wide range of experience in real property acquisitions, dispositions, financing, development, construction and leasing. Prior to joining JDTP, Steve spent six years in the legal department of Playa Capital Company (the developer of Playa Vista), where he was Vice President and Assistant General Counsel. While at Playa Vista, he was principally responsible for the legal aspects of the master developer's disposition of building sites to merchant builders, the formation and administration of joint ventures, negotiating and closing the company's pre-development and working capital financing and infrastructure construction loans, drafting and negotiating contracts with contactors and consultants, negotiating and administering commercial and retail leases, overseeing property owners' association and community service organization start-up operations, and administering the owner-controlled insurance program.
Prior to Playa Vista, Steve practiced for seven years in Downtown Los Angeles in the real estate practice group of a multi‑national law firm. While there, a substantial portion of his practice included representing banks and commercial lenders in originating construction financing, permanent loans, mezzanine financing and other loan facilities (in amounts up to $350,000,000) secured by interests in commercial, retail, office, hospitality and multi-family residential property. He also represented various banking clients in the acquiring and selling performing and distressed loan pools. Steve has substantial experience representing institutional clients in the acquisition and disposition of commercial, retail, industrial, utility, hospitality, resort and residential properties (ranging in price up to $800,000,000), and representing master developer clients throughout California in the disposition of building sites.
Steve received his B.A. in Economics and Political Science from UCLA in 1990 and his J.D. from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles in 1995.
